I swore I would leave my hair alone and keep it red for the duration of my trip, but after a couple of weeks it had faded to a sickly pink in many places (as red it apt to do) and stayed very bright in others. A girl can only put up with this kind of thing for so long, but I have a fear of my hair falling into the wrong hands.
After a little bit of research I decided that the retro-inspired, rockabilly-themed Rockalily salon in East London was the place for me. My experience at the salon was phenomenal – ReeRee and Emma made me feel right at home with a cup of hot tea and hair salon gossip, and their excitement over mixing up the perfect purple let me know that I was definitely in the right hands.
I had originally gone to them with a burgundy shade in mind, but Emma quickly convinced me that I might be disappointed with how flat the colour would be (a pixie never wants to be flat!) and we went in a more vibrant direction instead. I think the end result speaks for itself: perfectly pixie purple, shockingly vivid, beautifully multi-dimensional, and as one passerby on the street exclaimed, “It shimmers like a gemstone!” in the sunlight.
Whether you like a retro ‘do or a modern cut, fluorescent dye jobs or something more neutral, if you’re in the London area, I’d certainly recommend giving Rockalily a try; and, if you dig rockabilly fashion, definitely check out the owner Ree Ree’s adorable blog.
If you do stop by, be sure to give Ellington the dog a pat for me! ;)

When I retired from being a flight attendant for 32 years, I decided to let my hair grow in to see it’s natural colour. I was expected salt and pepper; what I got was pure salt!!
It was SO attractive, but you know what Sarah? It was boring to have the same colour all the time.
Good choice of yours to change your colour!
