Links // From Grumpy Cat to a primer on design…

(via)

To me, Sundays are the perfect days for snuggling up with a hot beverage & a fuzzy critter, and getting lost online for an hour or two. I have a two-hour bus ride home from Toronto this afternoon, so I’m crossing my fingers that I get on one with WiFi. While there won’t be a kitty on my lap, I’ll try to remember to grab a hot tea before I board.

In case you have something similar on your agenda, I’ve put together this list of links for you. From design to fashion to Grumpy Cat, here are my favourite morsels of Internet deliciousness that I dug up this week…

Startups, this is how design works.

It turns out grumpy cat is really just misunderstood.

I don’t want to admit how much time I spent today testing my vocabulary …probably enough to fill a bowl of rice.

Gala Darling penned a beautiful prayer for the new year and wrote up some bangin’ resolutions for anyone low on inspiration.

Can Facebook Poke make social media more authentic?

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting hair extensions, since it feels like I’ve been growing my hair our foooooorever with little progress, so I loved this rundown from Elsie!

If you’re considering your first tattoo, take this young girl’s experience as a warning.

Be wrong as fast as you can.

I love the simple beauty of these minimalist posters made from the text of classic books.

Wouldn’t these anatomically correct chocolate skulls make awesome Valentine’s Day presents?

I’m loving on Kenny Random‘s street art and his dedication to adding colour & life to the cities he paints in.
“I like playing with fantasy and reality, so I try and find the best location to give more power to all the cartoon characters. Cartoons are very powerful on paper, but on the street they become part of real life; the right place can give them an amazing power!”

Natalie was a talented intern at the magazine I used to manage. She’s a budding journalist, an inspiring blogger, and now she’s working to start a charity! Help make Natalie’s dream, Tutus for Tots, come true by voting for her here.

I love, love, love Danielle’s Mantra of Practical Compassion.

a little weekend link love.

Even though I’ve finished my shopping and indulged in quite a bit of Christmas confectionery, it still doesn’t really feel like the holidays to me. Perhaps it’s the fact that there’s no snow on the ground. I’m hoping some hot cocoa and a Christmas special might do the trick. For now, here are some fun links I’ve come across this week.

It’s coming down to the wire but there’s still time for some small homemade gifts. I’ve still got more baking to do for gift boxes but I also love this list of 12 d.i.y. stocking stuffer ideas. I especially want to try the snow globes, and the hot cocoa kits are so cute!

I’ve got a serious case of wanderlust. This post on A Cup of Jo has me longing for New York. I’ve also been feeling “the Paris effect” particularly acutely this week. These little Paris paintings (via A Cup of Jo) made it even worse. Where in the world do you want to be?

I’m so jealous of Elsie’s Christmas fort! <3 I also can’t wait to try her gift wrap ideas, aren’t they sweet?

I’ve been loving on The Paper Kites since Kelly Ann posted their EP on Monday. In fact, I’m curled up listening to them right now with a cup of this (I know, shopping from my own wish list … bad, S!)

This woman found a baby seal on her couch. How cute is that?

I was happy to see that Laura also sees the beauty in light leaks. Aren’t her shots gorgeous?

Did you know that the colour of 2012 is Tangerine Tango?

I’m always happy when someone writes about the male burden of sexuality. I think it’s important to remember that gender can be just as damaging for both sexes.

I loved looking at Lindsay’s list of plant-based Christmas recipes. It provided me with lots of inspiration for next weekend.

If you need to do some last minute shopping, check out Elaine’s feel-good gift guide (everything’s $30 or less).

I’m loving this video almost as much as the Halloween version… “You stinkin’ parents … I want a refund!”

Have you stumbled on any internet gems this week? I’d love to see them!

xoxo
