This is London: Afternoon Tea at Fortnum & Mason

Perhaps one of my most lovely London adventures thus far took place this past Sunday, when I was invited to afternoon with the lovely Xandra and Caroline. There couldn’t have been a better setting for my inauguration into this British tradition than the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at the iconic Fortnum & Mason.

I was there conspiring and snapping photos for their latest top secret project (don’t worry, all will be revealed soon), but I also revelled in every moment of what must be one of the most perfect ways to spend a Sunday afternoon. Of course it included tiers of sandwiches, scones, and cake and many cups of tea (I chose the Dan Cong Gardenia), but also hours of leisurely conversation. We mused on everything from the wisdom of Dumbledore to the etiquette of online dating and the many ways to get to know a city. I feel so lucky to have met such kindred spirits on this side of the pond!

I also fell in love with F&M, which is much more than just a tea room. Each floor offers new decadent delights and I couldn’t help designating it “the British Tiffany’s.” Perhaps popping in for a visit (with a coffee and croissant in hand) will become my new cure for the mean reds.

And coincidentally, my new hair perfectly matched their gold and turquoise colour scheme.

Take a peek at a few shots from our adventure…

It’s quite a luxurious treat, but if you’re visiting London, I highly recommend taking your tea at Fortnum & Mason. Just be sure to bring your favourite accomplices in magic-making along with you!
